If you plan to translate a number of HTML stream files and you have all these files in a single IFS directory, you may use option 2 of the home page (see figure 1) to work with all the HTML stream files in this directory. Example:

By pressing the "go" button, you receive a list of all the stream files in that IFS directory that are - actually or potentially - HTML web pages. Example:

• entries with nothing in column "use" (example: page3.html) are stream files never handled by BABEL_I.
• entries with XLT in column "use" and something in column "translation" are stream files that did undergo some BABEL_I-driven translation. Examples:
  • page1.html was completely translated from US English (ENU) to Italian, (59 text strings were translated)
  • page2.html did undergo some initial translation (just two text strings translated) and its translation is not complete.
• entries with XLT in column "use" and nothing in column "translation" are related to stream files that may be converted to one more national language.

How about the radio buttons in front of these entries?

1. Entries with nothing in column "use" and nothing in column "translation"

By clicking the radio button of a such an entry, you receive a page (see Figure 7) to assign the use of this stream file as "HTML file to be translated". If you agree on this use: Click the radio button Identify the national language of this stream file by choosing it from the languages selection box Press the "go" button. If you do that, you receive a page like the one in Figure 8. It tells what is the use of this stream file and provides an option for translating it to another national language. Please refer to the discussion related to Figure 12 in this page. You may press this green icon to go back to the IFS directory list (see Figure 9).	Figure 7 - Establishing the use of a stream file

2. Entries with XLT in column "use" and partial information (XXX--> ) in column "translation"

By clicking the radio button of a such an entry, you receive the page in Figure 10.

• "Translate this HTML stream file", you receive the screen in Figure 11 and you can start the first national language translation of this file. Before starting, you have to provide the name of the translated stream file and assign it a national language.
• "Remove all information ..." to remove the national language assigned to this stream file and return to the directory list.

3. Entries with XLT in column "use" and full information (XXX-->YYY) in column "translation"

By clicking the radio button of a such an entry, you receive the page in Figure 12. You may then click The radio button "Translate this HTML stream file" to start again this translation (in case something was changed in the original stream file), see Figure 13 The radio button "Save nn translation entries ..." to save in a special "save" stream file the translation dictionary entries created during this translation, see Figure 14. Go to page6.html to know more about translation dictionary saving. The radio button "Remove all information ..." to remove the BABEL_I information regarding this translation (translation from-to and related translation dictionary entries). The involved stream file objects (the original and the translated one) are left unchanged.
