The following tells how you may configure your Netscape Communicator in order to interact with your IBM i POP3 Server.   just another service by Giovanni B. Perotti, IBM Italy

  1. Start Netscape Communicator
  2. select Edit -> Preferences
  3. click on the + of Mail & Newsgroups
  4. click on Identity
  5. enter the following
    1. your name (instead of User1 POPMail as in our example)
    2. the e-mail address of this user as known to the IBM i POP3 server (see Defining IBM i mail users)
  6. click on Mail Servers (beneath Identity)

  1. For the Outgoing Mail Server fill in
    1. the SMPT server name
    2. the IBM i user profile name defined for this PC user (its password would be tha IBM i password for this user profile)
    in such a way to match the IBM i definitions (see Defining IBM i mail users)
  2. For the Incoming Mail Server press the Add button

  1. fill in the required information (see Defining IBM i mail users)
  2. push the OK button
You will return to the screen in Figure 2: push the OK button again.
