Named Entities

"Named Entities" is a way you can specify any character, including special characters, in a symbolic way. Named entities are independent from the character set used by the web browser to make readable the html received from the server.

There are three ways you can specify named entities:

  1. Name entity.
    For instance, you may represent the Registered trademark symbol ® by entering its symbolic name entity ®
  2. Decimal value.
    For instance, you may represent the Registered trademark symbol ® by entering its decimal representation ®
  3. Hexdecimal value.
    For instance, you may represent the Registered trademark symbol ® by entering the corresponding hexadecimal representation ®
